Tutoring:
Tutoring is a passion of mine and has been since elementary school. I now have over eight years of experience as a professional tutor for grades Pre-K to graduate school. My strengths include math, science, reading, English, Spanish, Latin, and computer science but I have taught and tutored a wide range of topics. I started tutoring on the side in high school and went on to continue tutoring at the Pennsylvania State University where I graduated in 2011. I worked at the University of California at Berkeley for a couple years before moving into tech work for 8 years with startups in the San Francisco bay area… but I never stopped tutoring. Following all that I am back in Pennsylvania and still tutoring just more now. I am happy to work with any client so we can do tutoring remote if desired. I can provide professional tools and materials, lesson plans and curriculum as well as progress summaries for each session. My goal is for each student to feel improved with each session and for them to also feel confident as they master new concepts and skills... all while keeping it fun. Looking for help preparing for a certain test?
I have worked with clients with preparing for a variety of exams. In addition to my experience, I can also provide professional materials and practice tests. From taking the first practice exam and finding out where a students areas of improvements are to individualized instruction sessions specifically tailored to them to building the confidence and skills going into the actual exam my methods have been shown to have results! The tests I have immediate knowledge and experience with include: ISEE, PSAT, SAT, GRE, GED, SSAT, TEAS, PSSA, and Keystone exams but I also have worked with students with more individualized exams like exams for placing out of or skipping a year of a subject in school. There are many skills when it comes to test preparation that I work with students on including: pattern recognition, time management, shortcuts and less work methods, understanding what is being asked, and stress and behavior management. I feel having a wholistic approach to test preparation and education in general is key to success.
